GROWING TOGETHER IN 2024
Ephesians 4:11-16
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work!”
Albert and I will never forget holding each of our children in the hospital for the first time. As we gazed into their eyes, a sense of wonder and anticipation filled our hearts, holding all the hopes and dreams, ages and stages, ups and downs, and honestly downright work it would take to grow and grow up with each child. Conscious or unconscious there was an understanding that they were not intended to be the cute, soft, squishy baby forever. There was so much more, and we were an important part of the MORE.
In 2023 God led us to the word “rooted,” believing that God was inviting us to focus on the hidden parts of our lives. Though the world looks at the “flashy fruit,” God praises the “secret roots.” Together, we “grew down,” learning what it was to be rooted in freedom, wisdom, times of change, and ultimately God’s word!
In 2024, God has led us to the prophetic word “growing together!” Like a child, we were never intended to stay in one stage forever. Rather, there is always more! This year, join us as we GROW UP TOGETHER, GROW MORE, and GROW OUT.
Growing is life!
We love you guys,
Pastors Heather and Albert
Now that you are a Christian
Philippians 2:12 (NIV) Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Although it is everyone's responsibility (with the Holy Spirit’s help) to maintain their own relationship with the Lord, the pastors, and family at Hope Chapel Kona want to help as much as they can.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV) And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 (NIV) For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
